Meg Doody, Sports Writer EMORY, Va.—The stadium was packed to kick-off the highlight of homecoming weekend: the Emory & Henry football matchup against Washington and Lee—a team that was undefeated in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) conference going into this weekend’s game.

Kashmon Jones, Guest Contributer Trey McCall is the current Emory & Henry baseball coach. Coach McCall was born in Abingdon, Va. MCall attended Abingdon High School where he was a well-rounded athlete. McCall said he “played baseball, football, and basketball growing up and at Abingdon High School.”
Henry Quesenberry, Sports Writer The 2018-2019 Emory & Henry Men’s and Women’s Tennis Teams continued their season with a couple out-of-state matches over spring break. The first match over the break was against William Peace University.
Brittany Hall, Sports Writer Sophomore Kendall Varner (Bassett, VA) plays first base and is an outfielder for the Emory & Henry College women’s softball team. Growing up, Varner fell in love with softball because it is where she met some of her best friends and had the most fun.
Henry Quesenberrry, Sports Writer The 2018-2019 Emory & Henry IHSA Equestrian Team competed at UNC-Greensboro on February 23rd to conclude their regular season. Senior Francisco Caba-Guil finished his last regular season competition by finishing third in the Open Equestrian Flat division and was fourth on the Over Fence portion.
Will Davis, Sports Writer Emory & Henry Baseball had a double header Saturday against the Mount Aloysius Mounties. The Wasps came into the weekend with a six-game losing streak hoping to end it with the home field advantage. The games where seven inning each, with the Mounties taking game one with a score of 5-4. The Wasps were able to recover with a striking 2-1 win with the game ending in a spectacular walk off.
Will Seidel, Sports Editor The Emory & Henry Wasps’ baseball team had a disappointing outcome to their first midweek game of the year against Maryville College on Tuesday. The Wasps lost to the Scots 4-0 and only had 4 hits all game in their first game in over a week because of the weekend series being rained out against Fredonia.
Mylan Brewer, Guest Contributor On Thursday, the Emory & Henry College Men’s Basketball Team travelled to Salem for the quarterfinals of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) tournament looking to keep their season alive. The Wasps came in the ODAC tournament as the #7 seed. E&H faced #2 seed Guilford College.
Luke Montalbano, Sports Writer New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft was charged this week with two counts of soliciting prostitution. The charges come after a month-long investigation with multiple massage parlors in Jupiter, Florida. He visited the Orchards Asian Spa on Jan. 20, the same day of the AFC championship game between the Patriots and the Kansas City Chiefs. Kraft is one of 25 men charged with this. There is video evidence of the offenses, but Jupiter Police Department has not yet released it to the media.
