This Hail Mary catch did more than solidify who Yates is as an athlete, it set the tone for how the Wasps plan on finishing out the 2019 season.

Meg Doody, Sports Writer EMORY, Va. — Wednesday and Saturday night marked the last two home games of women’s soccer this season, but also were important nights for the team. Before the game on Wednesday, the team held a ceremony honoring veterans.

On Friday, they both traveled to Ferrum College to compete in a tri-match against Ferrum and William Peace University, and held their first home meet against the University of Lynchburg on Saturday. Both teams would sweep the tri-match and fall short to Lynchburg at home.
Marigrace Grow, Sports Writer EMORY, Va. — On Oct. 24, the Wasps volleyball team had its annual Dig Pink Night, raising money for the Side-Out Foundation, which is dedicated to improving the treatment of breast cancer. The team held a competition with Greek Life, awarding the fraternity and sorority that raised the most money with a wooden bra, decorated by the Wasps head coach, Kyla King. The fraternity Beta Lambda Zeta, and the sorority, Alpha Beta Chi, won the Greek life competition.
Luke Montalbano, Sports Writer EMORY, Va.—The Emory & Henry volleyball team hosted an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) tri-match on homecoming Sunday, Oct. 20 as they welcomed in Shenandoah University and the University of Lynchburg. The Wasps would start the day by beating Shenandoah, but end the day by falling short to Lynchburg.

Luke Montalbano, Sport Writer BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Emory & Henry men’s golf team finished their fall season at the Virginia State Golf Association (VSGA) Intercollegiate Championship. This year, the tournament was held at Blacksburg Country Club and was hosted by Roanoke College.
Marigrace Grow, Sports Writer EMORY, Va.--On Oct. 3, the Emory & Henry volleyball team hosted its first Throwback Night, topping the Royals of Eastern Mennonite University 3-1. The team donned classic jerseys from the 1990s and completed the look with knee high socks, high ponies and scrunchies. The Wasps started the night slow in the first set, falling to EMU 13-25, but took the second set 25-17 after a 7 point run late in the set. The third set was a tight one, with the appearance of 10 ties. Emory & Henry gained momentum with the score at 16-16 and pulled out a 25-19 win after several key plays.
Cam Derr, Sports Editor The Hall of Fame is full of athletes throughout Emory & Henry history who have gone above and beyond with their incredible performances in their career. During the Wasps last home football game, five more outstanding athletes were honored at halftime. The 2019 Emory & Henry Hall of Fame is comprised of five inductees spanning across all sports. Casey Burcham, Jackie Greene-Dalton, Aaron Fuller, Gary Haga and Tracy Ross have been added to the HOF this year.
