Justin Hartsell, Editor Emory & Henry College is a 183 year-old institution that has found its way into the hearts of current students and alumni, but has also been a place of heartache and criticism for others on campus. So how can it be that this same institution is the center of such a wide variety of emotion amongst individuals? Emory & Henry, like any establishment, institution or organization, is not perfect because—well—humans are not perfect beings. However, the college has so many good things to offer for students that it really becomes a matter of choosing to look at what all being here provides for those who choose to come here.

Melody Lipford, Columnist As we enter the month of April with rain and the time when nature starts to bloom, there comes a sense of growth and renewal. Especially around campus, students may start to see the grass grow greener, easter lilies bud, the leaves start to refill trees barren from the winter, and birds emerge in a new song with the returning warmth after a cold season. Beyond these physical attributes, the same sense of growth and renewal can go beyond nature itself and exist in the nature of students on campus.

But when I read that Tim Burton was collaborating on the live-action rendition of “Dumbo,” I was excited and hopeful. To be fair—aesthetically—I have no complaints. The film was wonder visually, exactly what movie-goers expect of Burton.
Amy Lemco, Art & Life Editor Salads used to intimidate me and not feel like a full meal until I discovered the chicken mandarin salad and the “Crying Tiger” Thai beef salad. (I am not really clear on the origin of the name, something about how this recipe is so good it makes tigers cry. I believe it!)
Elysia Moreta, Columnist This past week, the garden club at Emory & Henry College has begun spring cleaning with weeding out the greenhouse in order to make room for new growth and uncover new sprouts planted last fall. One and a half of the rows cleaned up in the hoop house was to make room for all of our lettuce sprouts!

Christina Mitchell, Business Manager Get ready to put on some jazz music and go swing dancing because Marvel’s “Agent Carter” is just like taking a step back in time—except, obviously, a little more fictional. This show centers around none other than Agent Peggy Carter. She was first seen during “Captain America: The First Avenger” when she was Captain Rogers’ love interest. This show focuses on her after the war when she is working for the SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve) in New York City.
Breaking down the mountain of final assignmentsMelody Lipford, Columnist As students approach the final few weeks of classes, there tends to be a sense of overwhelm that overtake the campus as deadlines seem to come all at once for assignments within a short time period. Students see the finish line and are excited, but at the same time may become consumed with anxious thoughts concerning the final tasks that lie ahead.
Isabella McCall, Columnist There is a delicacy here in the South that is free and available to anyone. This vegetable cannot be purchased from a grocery store, but it can be picked from most any backyard, bartered from a friend or neighbor or ordered from a remote Internet site. A wild green that grows abundantly throughout the United States, “pokeweed”, is especially plentiful in Appalachia—a cultural region that follows the Appalachian Mountains from southern New York State to north-eastern Mississippi, as well as the rest of the American South.
Amy Lemco, Arts & Life College is the perfect time to perfect those recipes you can cook in bulk and divide into daily portions for a fresh lunch. Several of my favorites are cold noodle salads with different flavor profiles.
